To show just how far he’d go to convince Google to select the Greenpoint district he represents as a trial location for its ultra high-speed broadband network, Assemblyman Joe Lentol has vowed to swim in Newtown Creek what the EPA calls “one of the nation’s most polluted waterways” if he’s successful. Not to be outdone, Troy assemblyman Ron Canestrari, with some heavy prodding by a reporter, has promised to drink from the Hudson River. If Google was the president of a frat house, it would be very impressed right now.
