In a letter dated today, Chuck Schumer, senator from New York, asks Jan Brewer, governor of Arizona, to delay implementing her state’s new immigration law for a year so Congress can first pass immigration reform. This is funny, not only because nobody has any idea when Congress can actually pass immigration reform, but because we can’t think of a worse move for Brewer whose reelection prospects have risen since signing the bill than halting a popular law at the behest of a liberal, bleeding-heart New York politician.
