The chairman of the Tea Party Express, Mark Williams, has apologized for his hateful rant about the mosque and community center being built two blocks from ground zero. Not because he referred to it as a monument to the 9/11 hijackers or that it would be used for “the worship of the terrorists’ monkey-god,” but because he realized that there is an actual monkey god in Hinduism named Hanuman, and he seems like a pretty nice guy. And even that still seems like a sarcastic, insincere apology meant only to rile up his critics and keep him in the blogs for another day. You won this round, Williams. [NYDN]
