Bloomberg Considering a Trash Tax

As a way to both plug the scary budget gap and encourage New Yorkers to be less wasteful, Mayor Bloomberg is considering charging people a fee for trash removal based on how much they throw out, so households would pay more in taxes for throwing away excess stuff. Displeased with possible further taxing for merely throwing crap away, one Flushing resident said: “I don’t think he can relate to the working class people. We don’t have that kind of money, especially now.” Hoarders, on the other hand, are finally grateful for their ailment. [WCBS via Gothamist]
