As part of his grand press tour last fall, Levi Johnston did not hold back in discussing the family that made him famous, revealing Sarah Palin would say things like “Where’s my retarded baby?” in reference to her child with Down syndrome, and that she wanted to adopt his child with Bristol. Well, now, some nine months later, probably because it had been far too long since he had snared headlines, the Playgirl playboy is offering an apology to both Bristol and Sarah.
“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” he told People Magazine. “I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize … So to the Palin family in general and to Sarah Palin in particular, please accept my regrets and forgive my youthful indiscretion. I hope one day to restore your trust.”
While it’s nice to think that Levi finally got contemplative about the damage his comments may have caused, the move seems more like the kind of gesture a 20-year-old would think was totally going to help win back his old girlfriend.
