Federal tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are set to expire at the end of this year, but on Meet the Press this morning, Mayor Bloomberg advocated for the cuts being extended in order to help the economy: “Let’s go on with the tax cuts for another couple of years,” Bloomberg said, in a discussion with Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell and former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan. “But you couple it with long-term solutions,” he added. “And you have to look at what’s politically possible.” The Obama administration, however, plans to let the tax cuts expire as planned.
