British comedian Tom Scott came up with a series of printable warning labels for readers to slap on offending newspaper or magazine articles should they find themselves fed up with some reporter’s obfuscation of the truth. (For now, online posts remain safely behind an expensive screen.) Scott’s stickers are quite clever. Some, like: “Warning: This article contains unsourced, unverified information from Wikipedia,” have little relevance for mainstream national papers like the Times or the Journal. But “some people claim” that the offenses described in other stickers, for example, “Warning: To ensure future interviews with subject, important questions were not asked,” are probably commonplace.
