The Pastimes of New York’s Very, Very Old People

Japan’s very, very old people may be mere figments of a vast pension scheme, but in New York, two supercentenarians are alive and well. Evelyn Kozak of Kensington, Brooklyn, just turned 111 and has her granddaughter looking for eligible (read: alive) bachelors. Susie Mushatt Jones — who also lives in Brooklyn and also turned 111 recently — though blind, still enjoys watching Wheel of Fortune, a show that without images is essentially people reciting the alphabet out of order.
