Consider Re-Parking Your Car in a Non-Tree Area

A tornado watch has been issued for New York City, Nassau County, all of New Jersey, Fairfield County in Connecticut, and parts of eastern Pennsylvania and the Hudson Valley until six o’clock tonight. This hardly means that a giant tornado is actually expected to touch down in all, or any, of those places, however. Unlike a “tornado warning,” which we had two weeks ago right before this happened, a tornado watch just means that the “ingredients are there for a tornado to form,” according to Tim Morrin of the National Weather Service. “Think of ‘get ready, get set, go.’ The ‘get ready’ part of it, that’s the watch.” Still, just to be safe, you might want to move your car away from that deceptively sturdy oak tree it’s currently parked next to.
