Lauren Kern Named New York Times Magazine’s New Deputy Editor

Hugo Lindgren was named The New York Times Magazine’s editor-in-chief just a couple short weeks ago, but he’s already brought a friend along with him. Lauren Kern will report directly to him as deputy editor, alongside Alex Star (Megan Lieberman has been moved to blog editing). Until very recently, Kern, a familiar name to our readers, was editorial director of New York Magazine, where she and Lindgren worked concurrently for five years. A few weeks ago, Kern left her post here to take over as executive editor for O magazine.
