A group of businessmen set out to prove that the Better Business Bureau, a prominent consumer watchdog group, runs a pay-to-play scheme by rewarding businesses that pay its membership fees with good ratings. So they paid the $425 fee for a nonexistent business called “Hamas” to see what would happen. The BBB gave them an A-. The BBB says it was just a mistake.
