House Republicans temporarily blocked the $4.5 billion nutrition bill Michelle Obama has lobbied for on Wednesday with an amendment. The bill would give more schoolchildren free lunches and healthier lunches. House Dems said the GOP amendment, which would require background checks for child-care workers, was an effort to kill the bill entirely and delayed a final vote on the legislation rather than vote on the amendment.
