bra battles

You’ll Wear a Wonderbra and You’ll Like It

Should bosses be able to demand that women wear what Tim Gunn calls “proper undergarments”? In Germany they can. On Wednesday, the State Labor Court in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, ruled that supervisors at an airport security firm “can demand female employees wear either an undershirt or white or skin-colored bras when they’re on the clock.” And they’re also allowed to determine the length of employees’ fingernails. The ruling also states that the firm can ask that men keep their beards neatly trimmed. But! Lest you think this is some kind of personal-grooming police state, the court ruled that companies cannot ban specific shades of nail polish or hair color — or wigs. [NYDN]
