After Alleged Killing Spree, Brooklyn Man Arrested

Police have caught and arrested Maksim Gelman, a 23-year-old man suspected of killing at least four people yesterday. Gelman’s murderous spree allegedly began yesterday morning when he fatally stabbed his stepfather in Sheepshead Bay, before doing the same to his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend and her mother. Afterward, Gelman allegedly stabbed a 60-year-old in order to steal his car. While driving the stolen Pontiac, Gelman struck a 62-year-old man who later died in the hospital. Before police caught him at the Times Square subway station early this morning, Gelman allegedly stabbed a man, now recovering at Bellevue, on the 3 train at the 96th Street and Broadway station. At one point, according to the Post, Gelman was heard by witnesses on the 2 train banging on the motorman’s door, yelling: “My girlfriend ruined my life.” [NYP via Gothamist, City Room/NYT]
