In cuts that are split between the United States and India, AllThingsD reports that hundreds of jobs will be eliminated from AOL starting tomorrow. About 400 employees will be laid off in Bangalore, with roughly 300 more transitioning to contract staff. That will leave only about 200 staffers there working on products for the Indian and Asian markets. “Several hundred” jobs in the U.S. are apparently being targeted, too, the brunt of which will be on the content side — in part due to the recent acquisition of the Huffington Post by AOL. One of the jobs set to be lost is said to be SVP of News Jonathan Dube’s. Despite the daunting size of these cuts, they won’t be as large as the 2,300 in cuts that brought the company’s size down to about 5,000 employees back in early 2010.
