On Thursday, a federal judge dismissed a motion by the lawyers for Jared Lee Loughner to keep the Tucson shooting in Arizona, instead of shipping him out of state, to Missouri, for a psychiatric evaluation. His lawyers objected to the evaluation being performed out of state, didn’t want his psych exam videotaped, and also pushed to have the examination conducted by an independent evaluator rather than a federal Bureau of Prisons psychiatrist. But it turned out their plea was all for naught: Loughner had already been moved out of state.
