Last Friday, Republican Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona claimed on the Senate floor that abortions account for “well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does.” The real figure, it turns out, is more like 3 percent. Kyl’s explanation? The “remark was not intended to be a factual statement,” according to his office. Obviously Stephen Colbert is going to have to mock you relentlessly if you say something so stupid. So over the past seventeen hours, under the hashtag #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement, Colbert has tweeted such gems as “Jon Kyl has the world’s most extensive catalogue of snuff films” and “Jon Kyl murdered a caricaturist for drawing him with a basketball instead of a surfboard.” It is literally the most hilarious string of tweets that has ever existed.
