Seventeen people have been killed in the south as a result of powerful storms and tornadoes. A tornado warning was issued for parts of Georgia early Saturday, and Alabama Governor Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency on Friday. States of emergency were also declared in 14 Mississippi counties and 26 Oklahoma counties. In Mississippi, more than 23,400 people are without power.
