Reformed bad-boy pop star Michel “Sweet Mickey” Martelly was sworn in Saturday as the president of Haiti, a country still reeling from last year’s earthquake. Unfortunately, Haiti’s electricity went out moments before the inauguration, forcing formally dressed dignitaries — including Bill Clinton — to start fanning themselves, in order to stave off the heat, CNN notes. Meanwhile, the new president, savvy in social media, tweeted his own inauguration, just minutes after it happened, prompting a flurry of messages expressing hope.
