On Wednesday night’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, Jon Stewart took up arms against Fox News’s criticism of First Lady Michelle Obama’s choice of rapper Common to participate in a White House poetry reading. Fox pundits expressed discomfort with Common’s politically charged lyrics. And yet! Some, like Fox’s Sean Hannity, had no problem supporting the radical words of Ted Nugent, who in 2007 publicly cursed out then-presidential candidate Barack Obama and referred to Hillary Clinton as a bitch. That was all a little too much for Stewart, who decided to respond to the nonsense in slam-poetry form.
