It takes the NYPD an average of 8.4 minutes to respond to a 911 call, up from 7.1 minutes in 2007. Or it can take 20 minutes for the cops and ambulance to show up — as our crack Intern Emily found out yesterday — when you’re calling because an old lady fell down the subway steps at City Hall and sliced her head open.
