You might expect that a congressman whose official Twitter account was hacked in an attempt to implicate him in a phony sex scandal with a college girl would want to quickly bring the perpetrator to justice in order to clear his own good name. But Anthony Weiner’s office says that it’s “loath” to treat Saturday’s episode as more than a distracting prank, and, as of yesterday, according to CNN, neither the FBI nor the Capitol Police had yet opened an investigation. Weiner has, however, hired a lawyer to “explore the proper next steps and to advise us on what civil or criminal actions should be taken,” spokesman Dave Arnold says. Who’s the lawyer? They’re not saying.
