Workers Enter Japan’s Nuclear Reactor Building

Workers entered one of the damaged reactor buildings at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant today for the first time since hydrogen explosions crippled the plant two months ago. Tokyo Electric Power Co. said a dozen workers are connecting ventilation machines in the No. 1 reactor in an attempt to lower radiation levels so that cooling systems can be replaced. The work is expected to take four or five days and will be completed in ten-minute shifts to limit radiation exposure. [NYT]
