Anthony Weiner Finally Calls the Police to Investigate … a Reporter

One of the most suspicious aspects of the Weinergate scandal is Congressman Anthony Weiner’s reluctance to ask the authorities to investigate the alleged hacking of his Twitter account. Weiner claims he has instead hired a private firm to look into the matter because, after all, it’s just a silly prank that shouldn’t concern taxpayer dollars. Yesterday, though, he finally called the police … on CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer. The reporter popped into Weiner’s office yesterday and had a chat with his press secretary. After she left, Capitol Police were called in and met her in the hallway. They checked Kramer’s ID and informed her that not leaving a congressman’s office when asked to is an arrestable offense. Kramer said she was never asked to leave Weiner’s office, so it’s unclear why police were called, but whatever the reason, it must have surpassed Weiner’s high bar of what justifies the use of taxpayer money.
