Blizzard Cleanup Wasn’t Intentionally Awful

A investigation by the city’s aptly named Department of Investigation failed to find any evidence that sanitation workers plowed the streets very, very slowly on purpose following that epic blizzard last December. The allegation was originally made by City Councilman Dan Halloran, but, oddly, he “refused to tell investigators who he had spoken with and did not give them any information that showed a possible slowdown had occurred.” One real reason the cleanup effort took so long: “44 percent of snow chains used after the blizzard broke during the cleanup.” [NY1]
