Elderly Man Shoots Six in Arizona

A 73-year-old man shot five people and himself dead Thursday night in Yuma, Arizona. Carey Hal Dyess was allegedly upset over his divorce and killed his ex-wife, her lawyer, and three others. A sixth person was in serious condition at a Phoenix-area hospital after being shot by Dyessl. “This is a great loss,” said Robert Roberson, the longtime law partner of Jerrold Shelley, one of Dyess’s victims. “It’s not unusual to hear about an irate person on the other side in a divorce case who has a grudge against their ex’s divorce lawyer, but nobody expects anything like this,” he said. Dyess had been married and divorced four times, and was last married in 2002.
