Boy, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama picked the wrong week to appear before LGBT groups. First Obama gets heckled at a Manhattan gay fund-raiser on the eve of the passage of marriage equality in New York State. And next, Secretary of State Clinton spoke to a crowd gathered by Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. According to Politico, our former senator appeared to cheer the New York law. It “gives such visibility and credibility to everything that so many of you have done over so many years,” she said. “We have to continue to stand up for the rights and the well-being of LGBT people.” While her husband has switched to supporting marriage equality, Hillary is still on the record supporting just civil unions.
Note to Hillary: Like you, Cuomo’s going to run in 2016, and he’s not afraid of coming out for gay rights. Maybe it’s time to get on the bandwagon?
