John Heilemann on The Chris Matthews Show: Obama Showing Wear

Our own John Heilemann appeared on The Chris Matthews Show Sunday to discuss how President Obama has changed since the campaign trail. Not just his gray hairs, but how President Obama has been acting less like a “solo act” in the second half of his term, drawing more from a larger swath of advisers. “There was an element of a cult of personality around him,” Heilemann says, “and they have made a very conscious recognition that they needed to use the Cabinet better.”

Also, late Friday, Heilemann discussed Twilight fan Mitt Romney’s official bid and his laser-beam-like stance on the economy, which won’t be known as “the Bush economy” much longer. “Four years from now when people go into their polling places,” Heilemann says, “they’re not going to be thinking about President Bush anymore.”
