The Tweeter Who Launched Weinergate Is Seriously Paranoid

When blogger Andrew Breitbart first received the yFrog image of what seemed to be Anthony Weiner’s package, he attempted to contact the Twitter user who sent it to him to verify what it was. But as eagerly as the source, @patriotusa76, had sent the image, he immediately shied away from direct contact. The SmokingGun reports that, for all his glee in publicly taking down Weiner, the patriotic tweeter (who is now known as Dan Wolfe) was incredibly press shy. These are the various paranoid e-mails he sent to Team Breitbart from a Yahoo! account:

Why does he need to speak with me for this?” and “I’m just not sure why he needs to talk to me. Why is talking necessary?” … “I am having major personal problems right now getting worse by the minute” … “I have ALOT of personal problems I didn’t want to go into–but as I become the focus of this I am more and more afraid this will all come out”

It is very unclear what a separate legal battle has to do with talking on the record about a national pseudo-scandal that you yourself sparked. But obviously anonymity and mystery about the origins of this controversy are key to keeping it going — and judging by the anti-Weiner tweets the man has been sending out for weeks, that’s definitely his end goal.
