Boehner Bill Now Even More Dead in the Senate

In order to secure enough GOP support for his twice-delayed debt-reduction bill, Speaker John Boehner has altered one crucial detail: A revision mandates that before the debt ceiling can be raised again in six months, the Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, which has no chance of passing through Congress (by a two-thirds vote, no less), has to be passed through Congress. That addition should get Boehner’s bill through the House later today, but if it was only “mostly dead” in the Senate before, now it’s “dead as fucking fried chicken.” (Movie references!) [Hill]
