Iowa Congressman Fights Off Intruder With the Help of the Second Amendment

Democratic congressman Leonard Boswell was just enjoying life at his farmhouse in southern Iowa on Saturday night when an armed intruder barged into the home, “demanded money while pointing a gun and attacked Boswell’s daughter.” Boswell, a 77-year-old Army vet, reportedly “scuffled” with the uninvited visitor until his grandson came to the rescue by grabbing a shotgun from another room and pointing it at the intruder, who then fled. If the NRA wanted to demonstrate the importance of private gun ownership, they couldn’t do any better than this. But that’s neither here nor there. What’s important is that the Boswell family, despite a few scrapes and bruises, is doing just fine. The incident, though, has slightly unnerved the quiet town of Lamoni:

Muir, the sheriff, said that there were extra patrols being done in the area but that the sheriff’s office wasn’t warning residents to lock their doors.

No reason to go crazy.
