New York columnist John Heilemann visited the Morning Joe crew today to discuss who got most angry during last night’s debt-ceiling talks that may or may not have ended with President Obama storming out of a meeting with congressional leaders. Host Joe Scarborough notes, “Not only can they not agree on anything on budgetary matters, they can not even agree on what happened yesterday.” Heilemann adds that Republicans made a mistake by trying to turn the fairly routine act of tweaking the debt limit into an all-out political fighting match. “Republicans thought they had leverage and did have leverage, they decided to turn it into a big fight about policy,” Heilemann said. “Republicans overplayed their hand.”
