On Sunday, a measure takes place that will allow openly gay men and women in same-sex relationships to become ministers in the Presbyterian Church. Congregations individually will not be required to ordain elders or deacons, but barriers have been removed from the Church’s constitution. The Episcopalian Church and several other denominations already ordain openly gay clergy, but the Presbyterian Church — with its 2.8 million members — is one of the largest groups yet to do so.
