We have already begun to see the consequences of having a real live lady run for president. Tim Pawlenty’s PAC co-chair, Vin Weber, told the Hill that Michele Bachmann, the aforementioned female of the species, is an attractive specimen. “She’s got hometown appeal, she’s got ideological appeal, and, I hate to say it, but she’s got a little sex appeal too,” he told the paper. (H.I.S. appeal for short? You’re welcome, Young Republican wife-seekers.)
Even if he didn’t really seem like he truly hated to say it, Weber has already issued an official apology for the comment:
“I made a mistake that was disrespectful to my friend Congresswoman Bachmann. I’ve been a Bachmann supporter in her Congressional bids and I apologize. I was not speaking on behalf of Governor Pawlenty’s campaign but nevertheless, it was inappropriate and I’m sorry.”
So it’s fine to support Bachmann because you think she’s pretty? Glad we got that sexism charge cleared up then.
