To commemorate the ten-year anniversary of 9/11, National Geographic last night aired an hour-long documentary featuring George W. Bush’s version of the day’s events. The former president explained his reaction — or non-reaction, as it were — to the news that a second plane had hit the Twin Towers as he sat in a classroom full of schoolchildren. He appeared almost emotionless, but inside he said he was thinking “Who the hell would do this to America!?” Bush also recalled his immediate frustration that his team wasn’t aware of the threat, even though documents outlining a potential Bin Laden plot had existed for weeks. See more poignant moments from the interview in our video.
