Who’s your favorite New Yorker, living or dead, real or fictional?
Snoopy and all the floatable friends in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

What’s the best meal you’ve eaten in New York?
I love Pure Food and Wine on Irving Place. It’s delicious, plus you get healthier after dining there! But let’s face it: New York has the best food in the world, so I try to never miss a meal and to always try new places.

In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
Pray, listen, learn, and share. Oh, and also 1,000 other things at one time!

What was your first job in New York?
A featured extra on Kate and Allie.

What’s the last thing you saw on Broadway?
Hair … and I think my hair got bigger for days from just watching Steel Burkhardt [Berger] toss his around … (yes, I mean his hair). Great night, great production, and great fun.

Do you give money to panhandlers?
I choose to share food, water, and a smile.

What’s your drink?
Hot water and lemon … Well, okay, a deep red wine works too.

How often do you prepare your own meals?
Four to five days a week during school days.

What’s your favorite medication?
Meditation.

What’s hanging above your sofa?
A painting of a mystical waterfall in the rain forest as first light embraces it.

How much is too much to spend on a haircut?
Here in New York? Let’s just say it’s sad when your haircut can be more than your weekly salary.

When’s bedtime?
Right before midnight, even though it’s almost 2 a.m. now … oh well, wishful thinking.

Which do you prefer, the old Times Square or the new Times Square?
The old Times Square still holds magic for me since my days at The Will Rogers Follies, but [I’m] so proud of how successful and energetic it is today. Keeping the dollars flowing into our amazing city!

What do you think of Donald Trump?
He gave me the greatest gift in life, our daughter Tiffany. Well, I suppose God was partly responsible too!

What do you hate most about living in New York?
That it’s too far from Los Angeles.

Who is your mortal enemy?
The only enemy I could possibly have is me … the doubts and fears that sometimes creep up within.

When’s the last time you drove a car?
Heading to the airport from L.A. to N.Y. to start my job at Love, Loss and What I Wore, and I drove fast!!

How has the Wall Street crash affected you?
I stopped watering my lawn in L.A.

I’ve tried to wean myself from all newspapers since the nineties.

Where do you go to be alone?
I sit on a big rock in the middle of Central Park.

What makes someone a New Yorker?
Intellect, energy, passion, and total perseverance. And love of all things unusual. Also the ability to wear black in the summer.
