West Virginia native Russell C. Marcum, a private, first class who served in Afghanistan, was last seen ditching near Richfield Springs, south of Utica, after cops blew out his tires with a spike strip. The apparently suicidal man, who’d been arrested on burglary charges before assaulting another soldier, has said he would force police to shoot him in order to end his life. [NYP]
