Cat Lost by American Airlines Found Alive at JFK

Among the stories to emerge from Hurricane Irene was that of Jack the cat, who went missing from his cargo kennel as his family sought to escape the storm via an American Airlines flight out of JFK airport. His disappearance sparked a fairly significant freakout on the airline’s Facebook page, along with the creation of a new one called “Jack the Cat is Lost in AA Baggage at JFK,” which eventually attracted 15,000 indignant cat people. The saga came to a happy end this week, when Jack was finally located in the airport’s customs room. “He’s dehydrated. They’re checking his electrolytes to make sure he’s OK,” said one of his elated human relatives. Surprisingly minor problems for someone who’s been living in customs for two months. [NYDN]
