Sergeant Michael Miller of Brooklyn’s 81st Precinct got lucky during an arrest over the weekend as he wrestled with an armed man. “I could feel a really sharp burning pain in my finger, kind of like my nail was being bent back,” he said, later realizing that his “nail bed had been wedged between the hammer and the cylinder of the gun and basically getting crushed in there.” It’s the kind of luck that will seem unbelievable on a network crime drama in no time.
