the end is near

Harold Camping Says Today Is the End of the World, Again

In the mind of Harold Camping, the world started to come to an end back on May 21, just like he said it would, but without the earthquakes and destruction he had promised — that was all just a big misunderstanding. But Camping insisted that the Final Judgment was upon us, and would go on for five months: “And it will continue right up until October 21, 2011” — that’s today — “and at that time the whole world will be destroyed,” he said, as reported in the latest issue of this very magazine. Well, here we are. Look outside! Nothing? That’s exactly what God wants you to think.

We are living in a most unusual time,” Camping writes in a special message on his Family Radio website. He assures that today “looks like it will be the final end of everything.”

After Camping’s mistaken May prediction (his second such end-of-the-world miscalculation), he said, “I really am beginning to think as I restudied these matters that there’s going to be no big display of any kind.” Rather, “The end is going to come very, very quietly.” Shhh. Do you hear that?
