New York’s John Heilemann spoke to Lawrence O’Donnell on Wednesday night about Rick Perry’s recent description of Mitt Romney as a “fat cat,” a term not traditionally included in the Republican lexicon. (They prefer “highly successful people.”) As Heilemann put it, that — along with his apparent devotion to the Birtherism revival — are just the latest indications the Perry campaign is a little off-the-wall: “It’s kind of a nuts way to conduct yourself as a candidate,” he said. And it only serves to underscore why Mitt Romney is the “class of this field,” having managed to at least “avoid chasing the shiny objects” that have distracted his competitors.
