Last evening, while co-hosting the 2011 Mayor’s Awards for Arts and Culture, Alec Baldwin introduced himself as the city’s mayor. Michael Bloomberg, gamely playing along, then scrambled onstage and asked Baldwin (who has previously, in apparent earnest, tossed out the idea of seeking the office), “What the hell are you doing?” Sure, it was a bit, but that’s sort of what we picture happening when the next mayor gets sworn in.
