Sixty-four-year-old Manhattan real estate scion Candia Fisher didn’t send funds to a “Nigerian prince,” but e-mail is supposedly still to blame for her loss of more than half a million dollars. The Post reports that Fisher has an “obsession” with electronic messages, and so when a hacker accessed her personal account, all the necessary information was there to manipulate Fisher’s secretary into wiring money overseas to Australian banks. Eventually the socialite (who was also Daniel Radcliffe’s Equus producer) learned of the scam, but not before someone pulled off six transfers last week, totaling $548,725. If we had to guess, we’d say that the e-mail account in question is either AOL or Hotmail.
