City Council passed a bill today that will eliminate the Sanitation Department’s use of punitive, impossible-to-remove neon yellow violation stickers that leave a residue on windows to aggravate drivers long after they’ve blocked street-sweeping trucks in alternate parking zones. At last. Mayor Bloomberg has vowed to veto the measure, but City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she has enough votes to override. Anyone who’s managed to peel one of those stickers in its entirety can keep it as a collector’s item.
