Police arrested eight people this week and seized more than 8,000 packets of heroin (plus 2.7 kilos of cocaine and some guns) after a year-long investigation into the sale of “high-quality South American heroin at hotels, diners and electronic stores in Brooklyn and Queens,” the Daily News reports. Authorities said people “from good families” have been using the Long Island Expressway, a.k.a. the “Heroin Highway,” to buy drugs in the boroughs, instead of on Long Island, where it could cost up to three times more. And people say this city’s too expensive.
