Nico Pitney, a veteran at the Huffington Post, is leaving his role as one of Arianna’s top editors, Capital New York reports. Pitney most recently served as the site’s managing editor, but has held various roles including executive editor, national editor, and politics editor, the latter during the 2008 presidential campaign that catapulted HuffPo into the national media consciousness. Four years later, Pitney’s place near the top of the site’s masthead will be taken by 26-year-old Jimmy Soni, currently chief of staff at the Huffington Post Media Group. “Nico has been an integral part of HuffPost’s growth and success, and played a key leadership role following the merger [with AOL],” Huffington wrote in a memo today. Pitney, according to the announcement, is moving to San Francisco to be with his wife, “and to start a family of their own.”
