Who can write about how I feel?” Michelle Obama asked in a CBS interview yesterday, as she pushed back against Jodi Kantor’s book The Obamas, which the First Lady said is part of a media tradition that presents her as “some angry black woman.” Now she can write about how she feels, as long as it’s in 140 characters or less, thanks to a Twitter account that launched today: @MichelleObama. But don’t expect her to go all Ellen Barkin. “This account will be managed by campaign staff, with any tweets from the First Lady herself signed ’-mo,’” says the second message sent this morning. Already, the account is approaching 50,000 followers (@BarackObama has almost 12 million) and she’s only following five back, all official White House accounts. And for those into speculation about minutia, the account’s background and icon plug both Obama and Biden — so much for the Great Switcheroo.
