New York’s Frank Rich spoke with Lawrence O’Donnell on The Last Word Thursday night about Romney’s “closeted” Mormonism and what role, if any, Romney played in the Mormon church’s 1978 decision to allow black men to enter its priesthood. On the church’s resistance to give black men full status until that point, Rich says, “Whether it’s a country club or a religion, that’s a major issue. And since he was very active in the church and was an adult —what was he saying then? What was his position? Did he fight for civil rights within his church?”
