Obama Campaign Adviser Robert Gibbs Throws Gasoline on GOP Race

Robert Gibbs, top adviser to the Obama reelection campaign, sounded off on the volatile GOP presidential race on Sunday and did so in such a way as to inspire further divisiveness and indecisiveness. Referring to Rick Santorum and his chances to win the nomination, the former White House Press Secretary told CNN’s Candy Crowley, “I think because of the way delegates are apportioned, this is going to go on for weeks and weeks, and I think he’s got a legitimate chance to be the Republican nominee.” Which may be accurate, but then Gibbs takes a dig at Romney and it becomes clear that his assessment isn’t free of a desire to see Romney and Santorum fight ruthlessly until they’re both tired and bloodied and wish they hadn’t spent so much time talking to Newt Gingrich.
