Over the weekend Google’s barely year-old Chrome browser enjoyed fleeting dominance over Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, grabbing 32.7 percent of the world browser market, to IE’s 32.5 percent. (Firefox, still not quite down and out, tenaciously holds on with 25 percent market share.) But Google’s victory was short-lived. By Monday, as the cubicle hordes returned to work, IE regained a 5 percent lead. And so continues the long, drawn-out, multi-front war between New Tech (led by “do no evil” Google) and Old Tech (led by post-Bill Gates Microsoft). Control of all the world’s information to the victor.
